Public/Private Partnerships
Increasingly, foundations are partnering with local, state, and federal government to address the challenges facing Black men and boys. These cross-sector partnerships leverage resources and raise awareness to advance policies and create initiatives that benefit Black males and their communities.
City of Milwaukee: Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative

In 2006, Mayor Tom Barrett and community leaders gathered more than 1,200 men at a two-day Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative Conference. Because of the overwhelming community response, the mayor formalized the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative (MFI) with seed money from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and in-kind support from the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee. MFI’s annual Fatherhood Summit is open to the community.
